    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Why should I use robot?

“Increasing competition causes reduction in the profit margins every single day and it enforces more production in shorter times with less personnel and optimum investment budgets. At this point, robots, as a result of controlled and stabil production capability, enable efficient, economic and reliable production by elimination of the losses. In addition, in such sectors as food and medical, where hygien is unavoidable, they offer zero-touch automation solutions.

Robots do offer efficient and safe production capabilities to such processes as IML (In-Mold Labeling), Metal and Plastic Insert Applications where manual production is not possible or involves high-cost and accident proneness.

In summary, robotic automation increases company profitability in shorter durations, with utilization of less labor in today’s competition conditions.”

How will Robot and Injection Molding Machine work in synchronization?

Communication of robot with the injection molding machine is realized through an international standart protocol, namely, Euromap 12 or Euromap 67. The communication takes place by means of mutual signal emission over cable connection. As a result, robot and injection molding machine work in smooth harmony in a synchronous manner.

What happens if the electrical power is lost when the robot is under operation?

In case the electrical power is cut-down, the robot remains as it is and it will keep waiting for the operator to take it back to Home Position after the electrical energy is restored again.

What happens if the pressurized pneumatic air is unavailable when the robot is under operation?

In case the pressurized pneumatic air becomes unavailable, the robot will stop and alarm error.

How can a robot cut sprue (runner) of the products taken out of the mold of the injection molding machine?

Sprue (runner) and products can be separated via scissors with a suitable cutting force and angle located in a separate station either located on the robotic hand or at a point within the robot’s reach.

Can we insert a separate piece made of metal or of other material into plastic injection mold using robot? Can robot at the same time take-out products?

Robot can pick up the insert piece regardless of its material from the automatic or manual feed conveyor with the help of custom design grippers, and can place into the injection mold and at the same time it can take out the final products after the insert process is complete.

What will happen in case robot can not take out the product(s)?

In such a case, robot will move upwards to evacuate mold region, it will control product(s), it will not allow mold to close by not sending a close signal to the injection molding machine. Robot will also stop and alarm error.

What issues should we care in purchase of a robot for the injection molding machine?

    • Ensure that the robot has the speed to catch up with the injection cycle time of the product at hand.
    • Robot’s payload must be decided based on total weight of the product itself and the robotic hand.
    • Sufficiency of the robot axis lengths with respect to the injection machine dimensions must be checked. Robot axis lengths must be determined considering injection mold and product sizes as well.
    • Vertical axis length must be checked to ensure that there will be no contact to the plant ceiling or crane rails.
    • For some robot models; check whether the product(s) taken out of the mold will collide with the cross-wise axis or not.
    • Determine the robot’s working direction (operator / non-operator) such that it will not become an obstacle to the robot’s side accessories or to the operator in their operations.
    • For high-speed robotic needs, ensure that they have the mechanical body and design durable in the long-term operation under such high speeds.
    • Vertical axis of the robot must be able to place the product(s) picked up from the mold onto a conveyor reachable from the ground level or onto a fixed surface at the desired height.

What happens when the door of the injection molding machine is opened while robot is under operation?

Robot will stop and alarm error.

Can I have robot layover (sort) products vertically? If so, how many products?

Robot can sort/layover products on top of or next to one another. Number of sortable products are determined based on product shape and sizes.

Can we have products placed to different positions via robots?

By adding sufficiently many vacuum lines to the robot’s hardware, one can have the robot place products to different positions.

What type of robotic automation applications do you accomplish towards food and medical sectors as Moritech?

Moritech offers zero-touch full automation systems towards Food Packaging, Disposable Cutlery, etc. production where law enforcements on hygiene are in effect.
